If you go down to the woods today…

15.08.2008 – Every year, the Rodatal School in Jena organizes a walk. This year, the teachers and students went down to the wood; Dussmann Service brought the picnic along.

350 people are a big crowd for a picnic in the woods and the Dussmann Service catering team from branch office Thuringia had their hands full. Area Manager Gundula Heinrich and the other three members of her team were charged with the task of catering to the teachers and students of the Rodatal elementary school during their organized walk on July 3. The hungry day-trippers descended on them from all sides – literally, because they had divided into groups and started at different points around the woods surrounding Jena, arranging to meet at a central point. There, they found the Dussmann Service caterers waiting for them with pasta salad, ice cream, sausages and sweets.

The branch office had to apply to the forestry authorities for a special license to transport food and drinks into the woods with a van. Usually there are gates which bar the entrances but for Dussmann Service they were opened for a day. Gundula Heinrich and her catering team received a letter of thanks from the school for their efforts.

Dussmann Service has provided catering services to the Rodatal School since 2000; students can choose between two main courses and a salad. In Jena, the branch office Thuringia caters to all 12 elementary schools and a further five in the vicinity. On school days, this adds up to 2500 meals which are produced in the Jencasino kitchen in Göschwitz industrial park and delivered to the schools. Each day, Dussmann Service provides meals in the Jencasino to 600 diners who work for companies in the industrial park, including JENOPTIK AG.
